Project: Earth’s Crust
Date: 2023
Location: Como, IT
Scale: Medium
This residential project located on Isola Comacina, a small island with rich history in lake Como, is built on and around past architectural endeavors. As a part of the “infinite trace” workshop spearheaded by the Lopes Brenna architects, the concept stems from a manifesto: We are building on earth’s crust. Like those before us and after us, a repeating and recursive trace based on primordial aspects rather than functions or aesthetics. A small small obsession in an never-ending collective project spanning across the globe, era after era.
A mediator between nature and artificial, heritage and contemporary. Detached from the expected methods and established regulations an abstract amalgamation of space takes form via the use of 3 shear walls that both shape and define the intervention.
